Why does my disposable vape taste burnt?
1. The e-liquid is running out
When the tank is nearly empty, the cotton around the coil dries out and starts to scorch. This is the number-one cause – especially on older devices near the end of their puff count. On multi-flavour vapes, one tank can run dry while the others are still full.
2. Chain vaping
Taking many puffs in quick succession does not give the wick time to soak up fresh e-liquid. The coil heats dry cotton, and you get a harsh, burnt hit.
3. Long draws or boost mode
Very long puffs and high-power modes heat the coil faster than the wick can keep up.
4. Low battery on a non-rechargeable device
Weak power can cause uneven heating and a flat, burnt flavour. Rechargeable devices avoid this – just top up the battery.
5. Heat or storage issues
Storing a vape on its side or in a hot place can make e-liquid pool away from the wick.
How to fix a burnt taste
- Let it rest for 10–15 minutes so the wick can re-saturate.
- Take shorter, gentler puffs – one to two seconds.
- Switch off boost mode and use normal power.
- Recharge the battery fully if your device has a USB-C port.
- Switch flavour tank on a multi-flavour device – the other tanks may still be full.
- Check the screen: if the e-liquid indicator shows empty, the device is finished.
